check out tiger holidays's offers for tiruchirappalli!

Tiruchirappalli (Trichy) is one of the oldest cities in Southern India, and a major center of spirituality. A trip to Trichy – even a short one – is bound to increase your energy levels and to recharge you for an entire year. If you feel run down and disconnected from the spiritual world, you should know that Tiger Holidays provides affordable travel to Tiruchirappalli, where you’ll find the inner healing your soul craves.

The Journey of the Soul in Tiruchirappalli (Trichy)

The city is all about the number and variety of temples – places of worship, of meditation, of solitude as well as of communal spirit. Visit as many as possible (without a doubt, you’ll need more than a trip to visit them all), and you’ll surely find your spiritual home among them.

  • Sri Ranganathaswamy is considered the most important temple to Vishnu – and it’s an immense building, with a colorful tower standing 72 meters high. Non-Hindus are not allowed past a certain level, but, even so, it’s an overwhelming experience.
  • Rockfort is a complex of many temples located at the top of a rock. If nothing else, the view from the top is amazing – though, of course, it’s a fairly long and difficult journey up.
  • Jambukeswarar ;is a temple to Shiva with a water shrine, and, unlike other places, it’s usually extremely quiet and invites meditation and introspection.
  • Srirangam Melur Ayyanar is not in the city, but fairly close-by (it’s best to take a taxi for this trip). Once you reach it, you’ll understand why – it’s not a temple, but an entire gigantic city complex by itself.
  • Erunbeeswarer is a far smaller place than the others on the list, but it has a history that goes back over a thousand years, and a very nice location, on top of a hill, overlooking the road to Trichy.

An entire host of Christian churches, both old and recently built, complete the city’s spiritual landscape, St. John’s being the most popular with tourists due to its delicate architecture.

If you have sufficient time, you might want to move around a bit and check the surrounding area – the most important landmark being the town of Thanjavur, some 60 km away from Tiruchirappalli, a beautiful place, too often ignored by tourists in favor of the bigger cities of India. Other places of notice that can be reached with a day’s trip are Pudukkottai and Jayakondam for history lovers, and Karur, if you’re more interested in shopping for some bargains – as the town is a famous center of fabric production.

Where to Shop in Tiruchirappalli (Trichy)

With so many amazing places of worship to see in Tiruchirappalli, it’s easy to forget the material side of life – but don’t leave without purchasing some souvenirs, which your friends back home surely expect to receive upon your return. Chinna Kadai Street is the main shopping area, with lots of places that sell jewelry and clothes – the two main products of Tiruchirappalli. If you’re interested in something more modern, try the huge Femina Shopping Mall for a great variety of products and brands.

With Tiger Holidays, your vacation to Tiruchirappalli can become reality today. Go ahead and book your tickets, and let the journey of spiritual rejuvenation begin.
